Advance "Bayesian" e-mail filtering coming to Mozy...
Mozilla is implementing Spam filtering for Mozilla Mail 1.3. I've been having some problems with 1.2 and so I wish this would get backported. Sadly, I doubt it will. *sigh*

For those who aren't familiar with the pseudo-Bayesian technique, the technique works by looking at the content of your e-mail, correlating this with the e-mail you've already categorized and then sorting based on your existing decisions. The categorizing should be virtually transparent and become more accurate with each incoming spam you receive. For example: most porn spam contains certain words, that aren't likely occuring in your regular e-mail, when a "Bayesian" filter sees these words it concludes that this e-mail has a high probability of being spam and consigns it to your Trashcan. By contrast, even if you're discussing breast cancer with a friend; you might hit the filter for breast, but the hit for cancer will still score higher and so the e-mail will still be filed correctly - not as spam, but as your friend.

So, one more good reason to use Mozilla, aye? And to convert your friends?

Qvacks.
