My Firefox updated to version 3.5.5 and now the LJ entry view looks strange, missing pictures plus the horrible Times New Roman font.
On my portal page everything looks fine [www.livejournal.com/portal/
], but to have the usual style by the entries I must switch to IE view:page rendered by ff enginepage rendered by ie engine
On my old PC I have a previous version of Firefox and everything is ok there.
What can I do to solve it without switching to ie view? Is it possible they will fix it in the next firefox update?

Help with new Mozilla?
I needed a new school program that requires IE, which I long ago took off my computer. The school IT guy said he'd put it on. To do so, he took Mozilla OFF!
When I demanded that it be replaced, he could only download 3.5.3. I had not upgraded from 2.something; I was quite happy with that version. Now, I'm going crazy. Right now, two specific problems.
The biggie is my menu bar. In Mozilla 2-whatever, the URLs I loaded stayed in the same place all the time. If I loaded in a certain order, I knew to look for personal stuff at the top, fanfiction in the middle, and business stuff at the bottom.
Now, my menu bar seems to have no rhyme or reason. It doesn't leave my URLs in one place. But it also does not move most-recently-used to the top, as IE does/used to. (Haven't used it in two years; not sure what it does now.) Nor does it align the URLs in alphabetical order.
In other words, when I look for a URL, I have no idea where it will be in the list, which is a great time-waster. Is there any way I can stabilize this? URLs staying where I put them is my preference, but alphabetical would be acceptable.
Second problem, not so big, but irritating. At the right edge of the toolbar is a window that shows various search engines. I don't want it. I was able to delete all the search engines except Wikipedia; it won't go. I managed to move the separation line over until the search window is very small, but I would like it gone. Under 'Customize Toolbar', it says 'You can add or remove items by dragging to or from the toolbars'. But it won't let me remove that search window, or the 'home' icon, which I also don't want.
Can anyone help? Thanks so much.
(PS if there's a way to take off 3.5.3 and put back 2.anything, I'd really appreciate some directions. Thanks again.)

I had to redownload firefox due to having to get the computer wiped.
How can I make the symbols show up? They used to before.
My profile has chess pieces at the bottom but they show up as boxes to me now and any other kanji-like langusges show up as weird boxes too. Current Mood: curious

help please? :)
Feel free to delete if this isn't allowed. If this problem has already been solved, could I have a link to the solution?
Hello everyone, I installed Firefox a couple of months ago without administrator privileges (thanks to this tutorial
). It functioned beautifully for a few months but out of nowhere, I recently came across a few problems.
1. My Firefox pop-up blocker is on, but I keep getting random pop-ups from time to time. I already did a virus scan, uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox, and deleted old versions of Firefox, but it didn't do anything.
2. Firefox won't load certain pages completely: such as my LJ friends list, my tumblr dashboard, facebook, list of youtube comments, etc. It says it's finished loading but only 3/4 of the page shows up, and I can't scroll further. It's quite annoying.
(entry content/usernames censored for the privacy of the LJ user).
In the image, you can see I can't scroll any further, but my entire friends list page won't load (plus the link to view previous entries isn't visible).
Is there any way to fix this problem without the need for administrator rights? I already tried to find out the admin password, but nothing worked.
Thank you! :)

Mozilla seems to be controlling my fonts
I updated with the newest version yesterday and somehow, my fonts somehow got changed (everything's Arial Narrow. And small. SO small) and I can't make them revert to their original fonts (esp the ones I use for livejournal). I tried to change my CSS codes, but mozilla seems to be overriding it (fonts for my eljay are: helvetica and georgia for the links). I tried to change the font options in the tools, but it's either nothing happens (for eljay) or the font's are bit too big. -_-
Does anyone else have a problem like this? Current Mood: sad

Just a random question: are there any comms on LJ where you can post searching for an extension? Such as "I'm looking for an extension to help me do X. It'd be cool if it could do Y also, but that's not a deal-breaker. Anyone know of such a beast?" Current Mood: curious

SM on Mac
Does anyone here use Seamonkey on Mac OS X ? Current Mood: curious
UPD: OK, at least I found one...never thought SM can work smoother than Camino on Mac OS X though o_O

Mirroring an earlier question from _oyster_
The schemas for the various sqlite files is easily recovered, but their meaning is somewhat perplexing. I've not been able to find any docs on MDC. Is there a reference anywhere?
Google has been most uncooperative, probably because I'm just not dumbing down the concept enough. I need not just the names of the fields, but their use case.

Manual editing settings in Firefox 3.5
I need to allow displaying images from class C network, where hosts may be identified only by IP-address. With Firefox 2 I wrote a simple program and added its output to configuration file. But now Firefox uses SQLite format for configuration instead of plain text. Adding allowed domain like 1.2.3.* does not work. How can I solve this? Thanks.

How can I permanently get rid of things in my address bar? Seems like if I clear it out, the next time I pull it down, it just adds new random sites/bookmarks to it.
I mean, the reason I bookmark a site is because I use it frequently. That's why I bookmark it. I don't need you to put it on the address bar!

Article :: Firefox 3.5 – review of new possibilities
New version of popular web browser Mozilla Firefox 3.5 has been released yesterday, on the 30th of June. Probably you already heard about developers’ announce that new Firefox has such many innovations that they even decided to give number 3.5 to this release (before Firefox 3.5, Firefox 3.0.11 was released). It’s time to find out [...]

Hello all. Just downloaded Mozilla Firefox for the first time - I've been using IE.
I love it, but there's two things that make me from using it as my sole browser:
1. Is there anyway to fix coding? For example, in IE my LJ layout looks great. But in Firefox? Not so much. Same with my Twitter BG.
2. Is there anyway to change your email settings? Well, for a specific email - my university email. I use Webmail Outlook Express for my university email online, and whenever I use it, it messes up my signature and just makes everything look really blah. Is there anyway around this?
I ended up changing my layout for livejournal anyway. Current Mood: bouncy

I've been having several issues with Firefox recently, mostly with add-ons, but I'm hoping someone can still help. I'm using Windows XP.
First thing is when I launch Firefox, the application runs, and is shown in the Task Manager process list, but no browser window appears and it is not listed in the running application list in Task Manager. If I quit the application process and relaunch Firefox, the browser starts fine. Is there a way to fix this?
My other issues are, as I said, with add-ons. If this isn't the correct place to ask about those, could you please direct me in the right direction? The first, and smaller problem, is with Duplicate Tab. Usually, I can right-click a tab and duplicate it in the same window and other nifty things, but recently that option hasn't been appearing when I right-click.
My other issues are with Session Manager. I have tried disabling then re-enabling it, uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but neither have fixed these issues. Firstly, normally there is a sub menu under Tools that says Session Manager, and allows me to save, restore, and so on, my sessions. But now that menu doesn't appear at all.
The other issue with Session Manager is that I can configure it via the Add-ons sub menu to start up each time Firefox starts. Only, sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. And even if it does start up when Firefox is launched, it doesn't load the selected session.
I've been considering uninstalling Firefox and reverting to an earlier version of the program, but I don't want to lose my bookmarks, saved passwords, saved sessions, etc.

I'm having a slight problem. When I click inside the Firefox browser window it places a blinking cursor on the page, and I don't know how to make it go away. It makes scrolling down really inconvenient; I have to use the mouse on the side scroll bar.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm running Win2k in QEMU and can't get the 1.5 branch to run. It installs fine, but when I try to launch it says there is an error, Windows needs to close it, and it will write to a log.
Sorry if this isn't the best forum for this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I need a light-weight modern browser for Win2k.

Email preferences problem
Whenever I click an email link in my firefox browser, I am automatically redirected to a web-based email site. I would rather it automatically open up my ThunderBird program instead.
I tried fowllowing the Firefox help guide but it is still doing the same thing. What am I doing wrong?
